FBI release files on B.I.G.'s murder
The public can now view files containing details on the murder of the Notorious B.I.G.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has placed a number of case files online for public viewing in a new section of its website called The Vault. It's a digital reading room designed as part of a Freedom of Information request.
Among the more than 2,000 available documents is Biggie's case, comprised of three downloadable files, which remains unsolved to this day. The FBI opened a civil rights/color of law investigation into the murder in 1997 directly after the rapper's shooting death in Los Angeles. The case was closed in 2005, when authorities gave up their theories that the LAPD may have played a part in plotting his murder with then-Death Row label head Suge Knight.
Biggie's 359-page file contains newspaper clippings, emails and legal documents among other things. Much of the information found in Biggie's case is already known to the public, but there is some new information. For example, a list of items found on Big's body after his death is getting a lot of attention, according to BallerStatus.com. In unsealed documents, it states that homicide detectives found marijuana, an asthma inhaler and several condoms of a "larger size."
