Tracee Ellis Ross heads to BET

Tracee Ellis Ross is returning to TV in a new BET scripted series, co-starring Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
Tracee, who starred in the hit CW series “Girlfriends” for eight seasons, will play a psychologist whose professional life is tame in comparison to her personal one. Malcolm, of “The Cosby Show” and “Malcolm and Eddie” fame, portrays Tracee’s husband, an English teacher.
The show was officially announced by the network this week, and Tracee confirmed with a post on Twitter.
Malcolm, who is best known for his role as Theo on "The Cosby Show," said he hopes this show has the same sort of impact and longevity.
"It's surreal that I'm the dad this time," he said. "I'm excited about the potential we have with this show. I hope to recreate the same kind of timelessness we had on 'Cosby' so that in 25 years, this show will be as relevant."
Tracee said she and Malcolm are definitely working well together.
"Finding this match and the chemistry that happened here, it's magic you can't buy," she said.
The series, “Reed Between the Lines” is slated to premiere in October.
“Reed Between the Lines” will join a growing roster of original scripted series on BET. Earlier this year, the network launched a new season of the hit show, “The Game,” and premiered the sitcom “Let’s Stay Together.” Both shows have been renewed with new episodes expected to air in 2012.
