Faith Evans comments on divorce
Faith Evans and her estranged husband Todd Russaw have released a statement about their divorce.
We reported Monday that Faith filed for divorce, but neither the singer nor Todd had said anything to the public about the split.
Now, the couple, who is divorcing after 14 years of marriage, is explaining that the decision to part ways was not made lightly. “The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone’s life," Faith and Todd said in a joint statement. "However, after a great deal of thought and careful consideration, we have come to the decision to end our marriage together."
Faith and Todd have been separated since 2005, but they had their second child 2007. The pair still plans to work together to raise Joshua, 13, and 4-year-old Ryder.
"We will both remain committed to parenting our children and will also continue to support each other’s professional endeavors," the singer and her estranged husband stated.
The pair is hoping to work through this situation as quietly as possible and requested that the public and the media give them space during this difficult time.
"We consider this a private matter and we will not make any further statement regarding the matter," Faith and Todd said. "We would appreciate the press respecting the privacy of our family, particularly our children, as we attempt to handle our situation with respect and dignity.”
