The new film The Help may prove to be just that for Viola Davis when Oscar time comes around.

According to TIME.com, the veteran actress’ portrayal of Aibileen Clark will possibly secure Viola the coveted golden statue.

Currently in theaters and receiving vast critical acclaim, The Help is based on Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel of the same title. Viola’s character, Aibileen, is a black housekeeper who’s helped raise at least 17 White children at the cusp of the Civil Rights revolution.

The movie features an all-star cast, but apparently Viola’s outstanding performance is what’s generating buzz. But is it enough buzz to snatch her an Oscar?

TIME’s movie critic, Mary Pols, thinks it is safe to say so, even though it is only August.

Viola is not new to Oscar buzz, she was nominated in 2009 for her role in the movie Doubt. Still, this year’s chances are less than doubtful that Viola will be taking home an Oscar trophy.
