Naturi Naughton defends 'Playboy' role
Lately, it’s been reality shows receiving criticism over their portrayals of Black women, but with the upcoming NBC show featuring women as Playboy bunnies, the stars of the scripted series felt the need to defend it when asked whether the show is demeaning.
“Sex will be there as it is everywhere in every show, but it is about these women. It’s character driven,” said film and stage star Jenifer Lewis, who explained she’s portraying a multi-dimensional woman. “I know that I am representing.”
Naturi Naughton, who plays Bunny Brenda on the show, said Playboy wouldn’t exist without the women, and that means they hold at least some of the power.
