Will Kanye West and Jay-Z beef ruin tour?
With their collaborative album Watch the Throne due to hit iTunes next week, mentor, Jay-Z, and mentee, Kanye West, are showing signs of a possible rift.
Yeezy and Jay aren’t getting along due to a disagreement over the price tag for their upcoming tour, according to the New York Post. Dates have already been announced, but the two rap masterminds have not come to terms over the highly anticipated project.
The two are rumored to be barely speaking because Jay-Z wants to keep things simple, while Kanye wants to put on a spectacle. Shocking!!
“Jay-Z can’t deal with Kanye… Jay is a stone-cold businessman. He wants to recoup all of his money from Live Nation. But Kanye wants to upstage rock stars with a blowout show.”
Kanye, who is known for his over-the-top antics and performances, wants to create a flashy, production that will cost more than $400,000 per show. However, Jay wants a return on his investment, mainly due to a long-term advance that he owes Live Nation.
“[Kanye] doesn’t care about costs,” the source said. “He has a lot less to gain from the shows.”
Signs of a possible beef were obvious at Young Jeezy’s recent show. The two members of The Throne, the name for the duo, performed separately, much to the audiences’ surprise.
“We were expecting them to come out together to perform a track from the album,” the source said. “They didn’t even go out together after the show.”
Neither camp has commented on the matter, but the two are still scheduled to host a listening party at The Rose Planetarium in Central Park today.
Dates for the tour, causing all the controversy, are still being added and tickets are currently on sale.
