Apparently, it has been noted that rapper-turned-actor Snoop Dogg nurtures more than just his favorite substance.

Viewers got to see first hand, just how Snoop functions as a father figure, with his E! reality series Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood. Now, NBC has picked up a family comedy with Snoop Dogg playing the father. According to Deadline Hollywood, the project was set up last month at Warner Bros. TV but had yet to be taken out to networks.

A script is in the works from comedy writer Don Reo who has worked on “Everybody Hates Chris” and “My Wife and Kids.” As well as playing a dad on the show, Snoop also plans to produce. The two worked together on Fox’s sitcom "Brothers”.

NBC has had varying success rates with sitcoms based around rappers — from the 90s smash hit “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, to the 2001 pilot with Sisqo that never even debuted, according to Deadline.

A spot on the small screen isn’t all we can expect from the pee-wee football coach, though. He was recently cast in The Legend of Fillmore Slim, the story of the 1970's San Francisco blues guitarist and pimp who was referred to as the "West Coast Godfather of the Game”.

There is no word on a title for the show.
