Wendy Williams: Oprah letter is real
On a recent episode of “The Wendy Williams Show,” the talk-show host boasted to her audience that Oprah Winfrey’s people had sent her a letter that has surprisingly caused a lot of controversy within the past few days.
According to Wendy, the correspondence denied rumors that there is a widening rift between Oprah and BFF Gayle King who will be leaving OWN and headed to “CBS This Morning.”
Although the intention of the letter was positive, Gayle went on “The Tom Joyner Morning Show” to denounce it, stating, “I know Oprah never wrote a letter to Wendy.”
Wendy, who is nothing if not outspoken, responded in kind and talked to Tom Joyner yesterday on his radio show in response to Gayle’s remarks.
“I have no reason to lie about this,” she said. When Tom gave Wendy an opportunity to address Gayle’s clarification—because he was sure she would be listening—Wendy simply gave her trademark phrase, “How you doing?”
Figuring that maybe Gayle was just upset that Wendy had jumped on the rumor bandwagon, she explained to Tom that she was making comments about Gayle’s decision just like anyone else.
As a matter of fact, she’s a fan of the BFFs.
“I love them as friends. I hope that this doesn’t mean that the relationship is cooling off. Oprah could really use Gayle by her side…,” said Wendy who would like the back and forth to end and for the two to squash whatever problems have emerged.
Gayle made it known to the public on “The Tom Joyner Show” that Oprah has been supportive of her decision from the very beginning. Oprah told Gayle, “This is so what you do, the news is what you love, the news is what you do. You would be crazy to pass it up,” said Gayle.
That sounds like the Oprah her fans know and love.
